Fish Reports
Tuna fishing continues to be great. Fish between 63-67" were
caught this week kite fishing with live pogies. Ralph Holleran and crew
from Binghampton NY fished for groundfish on Wednesday. Fishing was non-stop
with huge pollock to 25 pounds with a mix of cod up to 8 pounds hammered jigs
in depths of 350 feet. Saturday's trip of John and Jane Timmons from
Newark NJ also had non-stop action with the large pollock. They also
caught and released 4 large blue sharks up to 8 feet. The biggest surprise
was a big porbeagle that chased a pollock all the way up to the transom.
Bass fishing continues to be slow but several large bluefish have moved into
the race for great light tackle action.
The big news this week has been Tuna. We caught tuna every trip this
week all on live pogies either on a kite or balloon. Dan Burns from
Marshfield MA, caught 4 bluefin on Monday up to 66" down on Peaked Hill
Bar. Friday Eric Timmons from Billerica MA, and Derek Santini from Wilmington
MA took out there young boys for some bluefin action. After only a half
hour the pogie was hammered from the kite and a nice 67" came to the
gaff. Our next bait was attacked less than a minute after setting up
with a tuna that was released. The boys had a great day hooking and
releasing dogfish on light tackle while tuna fishing. The Nick Muruso
charter from West Roxbury came out to do some bass and blue fishing on thursday.
Fishing was slow most of the day. Bass fishing continues to be slow
but should pick up by the end of the month. Groundfishing has also slowed
down with some nice pollock and redfish in the deep water east of the bank.
Last weekend we fished the Monster Shark Tournement down in Oak Bluffs.
Friday was a washout with heavy winds and big seas. Saturday was beautiful
with 23 sharks released. The biggest caught by Mike Moitoza from Taunton
MA, an 11 foot blue shark estimated around 350 pounds which was released.
Tuna fishing this week has been great. We have changed tackle to live
pogies since the squid bars have become harder to attrack stikes. Friday
Tyler Ludecker from Middleboro MA, and friends saw great tuna action.
Within 5 minutes of stopping at Peaked Hill Bar we had a 68" tuna attack
a pogie on a balloon. The fight lasted nearly 45 min. until the
fish came to the gaff. Seven minutes after setting back up we had another
take down on the pogie on a kite. That fish measured 60" and was
released. Bass fishing has been hit or miss as of late. Cod and
Pollock fishing is heating up in deep water. We are fishing 300 feet
or deeper water for these groundfish but the fishing has been! non-stop.
Captain Brian of Ocean Runner Charters reported that some larger Codfish
up to 23 lbs are being caught. Most were in the 10-12 pound size. Steve Heintzelman
group from Auburn, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 13th. bounced Cod Jigs in
the shallow waters of Stellwagen Bank's Northern Edge. They all hooked
legal size Codfish to catch there limit and move to get into some giant Pollock.
On the way to the fishing grounds, there were plenty of Whales, Striped Bass
and School Blue Fin Tuna playing on Stellwagen Bank. Come and let the Pro's

Ocean Runner Charters is now one of Green Harbors charters boats most popular
craft. Captain Brian Flannery has his anglers trolling his red and black jigs
from the race to wood end with outstanding success. They are hooking keeper
Striped Bass in the 40 plus size at a phenomenal rate! The Aaron Getty group
from Plainville, MA hooked braggin bass limits and spiced their catch with
several slammer Bluefish. The fish are fat and loaded with sand eel fodder.
Blue Fin Tuna continue to provide steady action and several 67-inch tuna were
hooked this past week. The Henry Thompson charter from Brockton, MA landed
a 66 inch Blue Fin and released a 64 inch blue Fin Tuna in fighting good shape.
These Blue Fin Tuna were taken on black and pink bars. The fish were hooked
in the deep water side of the southwest corner of Stellwagen Bank. Visit Ocean

Fishing continues to be phenomenal. Cod limits have been reached on
every trip this past week. On Friday we welcomed returning guest Dave
Neeman and his crew from Hartford CT. Fishing was non-stop with cod
up to 15 pounds. Drew Stefanski and crew came all the way from Pittsburgh
to have an awesome day with cod limits. Fish averaged 8-12 pounds.
Largest fish was 14 pounds.

Saturday was a bass trip to the race. Chuck and crew from Hillsdale
MA enjoyed a great day with bass limits up to 22lbs on black jigs. The
fishing was non-stop. Cod fishing is still outstanding up on the northwest
corner of the bank. The fish are slamming jigs as soon as they hit bottom.
Tuna news is spreading with fish in the 70" range showing up on the bank.
Tuna charters will start this week and will go on until November.

Cod fishing is still great with limits on every trip. Fish up to 23
pounds were landed this week with many in the 10-12 pounds. Dan Keegan
and friends from Duxbury MA fished on Monday. Steve Heintzelman and
crew from Auburn PA fished on Saturday. Fishing is with jigs in shallow
water on the north corner of the bank. Large pollack were targeted after
limits were reached. First tuna trip is Wednesday. The bass are
loaded at the race wire-line jigging.

Cod fishing continues to be amazing with limits on every trip. Skip
Webster from Chicoppe MA and crew enjoyed non-stop cod limits to 18 pounds.
Several large pollack also hit the jigs with green teasers in shallow water
on the Northwest corner of Stellwagen Bank Tuna fishing is off the hook.
Several large fish up to 69" were taken on squid bars on the SW corner
of the bank. Black and pink bars were the takers. Bass to 25 pounds
and bluefish to 11 pounds were taken off the race on the Steve Foley charter
from Halifax MA. Fish hammered red jigs and 9er rigs.

Fishing continues to be great. Thursday we welcomed the James Erlwein charter
from Liberty NY to tuna fish. Fishing was tough due to all the large
bass and bluefish hammering the squid bars but finally managed a 63"
bluefin on a pink squid bar. Deep water off Peaked Hill Bar provided
the action
Friday we welcomed Don Cooper and friends from Newtonville MA for great bass
and blue fishing. Bass limits were scored using red and black jigs up
to 21 pounds. Bluefish to 9 pounds also hammered the jigs. Chris Paze
and crew from Raynham MA joined us on Saturday for some bluefin tuna fishing
and bass fishing. Tuna action was slow on the SW corner of the bank.
Bass fishing was red hot at the race as fish hammered the jigs again.

Bass fishing continues to phenomenal with bass up to 40" almost every
trip this week with red and black jigs at the race to wood end. The
Aaron Getty party from Plainville MA scored bass limits up to 39" and
several nice bluefish. The fish are really fat loaded with sand eels.
The tuna fishing continues to be steady as well with fish up to 67" taken
this week. The Henry Thompson charter from Brockton MA scored a 66"
bluefin on a black squid bar and also a 64" which was released that hammered
a pink bar. The fish were taken in deep water off the Southwest corner
of the bank.

Ryan Crowell from Mansfield MA and friends were out for a combination tuna/bass
charter. Ryan is the owner and creator of Last Fling Lure Co.
He specializes in rubber skirted bucktail jigs. We started the day trolling
peaked hill bar for tuna. After 20 minutes of trolling the outrigger
popped and we fought a 63" tuna for an hour and ten minutes. The
fish was real fat and loaded with sand eels. We then went to the race
to wire-line jig his own "Last Fling Lure Co. jigs". They
worked great! Bass up to 42 inches hammered the black and red jigs.
Ryan is trying to advertise his jigs to local bait and tackles and charter
boats in Green Harbor are all ready buying them directly. On Friday
the Janine Quigley charter from Bridgewater MA came on the boat for a tuna/bass
charter as well. Tuna action was quiet all day except for some large
bass hitting the squid bars. The bass action was non-stop with fish
up to 39" hammering the jigs. The largest bass weighed 23 pounds
caught by Peter Quigley. Their two sons also caught 20 plus pound fish.

Last weekend we fished the Monster Shark Tournement down in Oak Bluffs.
Friday was a washout with heavy winds and big seas. Saturday was beautiful

Tuna fishing remains red hot. Fish between 63-66" were hooked consistently
on live pogies. It is an awesome sighting watching the tuna inhale the
pogies under the kite. Most of the fish were taken on the SW corner
with a couple taken at Peaked Hill Bar. Greg Stunzenas from Marshfield
MA, had a great trip fishing for sharks east of Stellwagen. Blue sharks
up to 250 pounds were caught and released. Greg and the guys were thrilled
fighting these guys and several nice pollack up to 15 pounds were jigged up
while drifting. Cheryl Chan from Quincy MA took her family out on Saturday
for some great tuna action. The pogies got hammered throughout the day
with several take downs but only a nice fat 66" fish came to the boat.
Cod and pollack fishing remain great in the real deep water east of the bank.
August 30, 2009
Wednesday we welcomed Rudy Langer and crew from Marshfield MA for some great
tuna fishing. Fishing was slow for the morning bite with minimum bird
and bait activity. A move toward Peaked Hill Bar was all that it took.
Fish were breaking under diving birds and our pogie was inhaled of the kite.
A fat 64" tuna was brought to gaff. The tuna fishing continues
to be great as well as the shark fishing. Frank Konroy from Bridgewater
MA, came aboard for bass and blues. Bass fishing was a little slow but
the bluefish were extremely thick. Bluefish to 9 pounds were hooked
on light tackle. This weather has caused for canceled trips this weekend.

Tuna fishing is still great with fish between 61-65" on the Southwest
corner of the bank. Andrew Ouellette from Danvers Massachusetts and
crew had a great day on Wednesday with 3 bluefin all on live pogies on the
corner. The largest measured 65" and weighed 160 pounds.
Bass fishing is starting to heat up. The bathhouse off of race point
has produced fish up to 40" on red and black jigs. Groundfishing
is also starting to heat up in a little shallower water. Codfishing
are starting to move back into the 200 feet depths and are slamming jigs with
a feather teaser. We still have great dates open for some awesome fall
fishing.

been hooking up from fish in the low 40" all the way up to the big giants.
Due to the windy weather, trolled squid bars and slug-gos have been taking
smaller fish on the bank. The large giants have been hooked on bluefish.
Halfbeaks have shown and causing the tuna to go wild. Groundfish action
has been good with codfish and pollack mixing the catch. Fish are are

The wind this fall has been terrible. In between the blows of this weeks
the tuna action was red hot. Fish from 46"-68" were busting
bait from the southeast corner all the way to peaked hill bar. Slug-gos
and squid bars are taking fish throughout the day. Live bait such as
pogies or whiting bring in the larger fish. As long as the weather holds,
we will be chasing the tuna into November. Bass fishing in front of
the bathhouse to the race has come alive with fish. Black and Green
jigs on wire brought fish to 43" this week.
